Testimonials

I love Crossfit Bishop. I am the kind of girl that isn't content with 30 minutes of "cardio" on a bike, or a step aerobics class. I like the full body burn, the opportunity to compete, and most of all the surprise that comes with doing something you didn't think you could do. Crossfit is the master at all of this. Crossfit breaks your body down so it can build back up into a better stronger one. It challenges your mind when you do three more reps than you thought possible. And it teaches your heart all you are capable of. Colin is a great instructor. I’ve never had a personal trainer but it is awesome having someone watching your form so closely, it makes you feel safe knowing that someone is looking out for you during challenging exercises so that you can push yourself a little further. Crossfit Bishop has got Colins intensity and attention to detail, Mollys inspiring fitness and kind spirit, a group of incredibly fun and fit people who are as psyched as you and an adorable baby too. Its certainly one of my favorite places to be in Bishop!!

Crossfit Works!  As a young buck, flush with time to get out in the mountains, I felt strongly that the best training for climbing and backcountry skiing was... climbing and backcountry skiing.  Now I'm by no means the busiest guy, nor do I have the most sedentary job, but I've felt the pinch of time in recent months.  I've spent many days over these busy months with Colin at Crossfit Bishop.   Colin energizes the classes, exudes knowledge and confidence, and successfully walks the fine line between motivation and all out pushing.  I just had my first opportunity in months to test my new Crossfitted bod'.  I can say that the total body training and the fresh, varied workouts make a huge difference!  The strength and endurance gains from Crossfit really shined on a recent one-day, monstrous exploratory ski tour in the High Sierra. I look forward to continuing to train and continuing to express strength gains.

I really appreciate all the dedication, knowledge, and energy you and Molly are so generous in giving. Your trained, focused attention and interest in supporting not only my fitness goals, but maximizing the quality of my performance, keeps me engaged and committed. It is inspiring to be around and has been a great catalyst fueling a new level in my health and fitness. It has always been a priority for me, but sometimes the conditions just have to be right to step up the quality and intensity. I suppose much like a CF workout...So, really, thanks. You guys are providing something very worthy to the Bishop community.

CrossFit is a different kind of fitness program that requires much more than gripping a bar and hammering out concentration curls. The complexity and variety of the movements, coupled with the intensity makes for a compelling system of improving one's physical and mental fitness. This is not accomplished without expert, careful, selfless coaching which Colin Broadwater provides.

Great WOD this morning! Nice to have visitors from South Lake Tahoe~Crossfit. Missed the regular crew this morning. Must be a holiday.

That's great that we had some visitors! Colin just got home from Crossfit Seattle as is BEAT DOWN. They worked up to 3 rep max of heavy DIP and PULL-UP. Then they did a interval work out involving 400m row, 15 push ups, and 21 box jumps 2 rounds. Cool. We are going to crossfit 206 tomorrow to do heavy DL's together with a friend.

Day 2 was great! We did a group workout that was so fun, can't wait to do it with you all. I got to climb a rope, finally, and LOVED it. We need to figure out a rope set up. I think the one thing that resonated with me the most on Day 2 was diet and the integral role it has in EVERYTHING. Working on the snatch is close second. Needless to say, I will be focusing a lot on diet the next month to see what gains come out of it. I have found that my body weight movements have progressed but my strength and power are not improving as quickly. Such as those damn thrusters during FRAN. It's very interesting that I am actually nervous to focus on my diet... most likely because it is WORK and I am lazy in this part of my life. I feel like I am preparing for a 1 rep max deadlift with sweaty hands and racing heart rate when I think about the focus and dedication this will take for me. It will not be easy.

I think the best part of everything is that my mom had her first crossfit session this week and LOVED it. She has already signed up for 3 more sessions and is psyched. We have been talking a lot about diet together as well and she is going to read the Zone book. I am trying to convince her to do the Zone strictly with me for about a month. Feels great to have family involved in this experience/ lifestyle of crossfit.

Sorry for the journal sessions but I wanted to share our crossfit experience here in Seattle!

Great morning with Krista and Tim and Suzi from S. Lake Tahoe. A proud display of effort from all and was great to feel the same warmth, enthusiasm, and dedication that seems to draw us all to CF. Anyone traveling in their area should definitely stop by their gym. Meghan and I dropped by later and cranked out the WOD. Both Meghan and Krista made the heavy presses look easy! Fun chipper. I'm glad I fit it in in the morning because my lower abdomen is starting to seize from the GHDs yesterday (Looks like just green runs with Sloan today...) Excited to hear more when you guys get back, Molly. Diet, yeah baby, bring it! Measuring and weighing. Break out those scales...

I hear ya about diet, Molly...I don't wanna worry about it...but know that I need to. Maybe you will motivate me to focus and try. I actually can't stop losing weight! I need to figure out something soon before I dissapear into one big tendon!

Oh, bummed I missed THIS one! How about a repeat session?

February 15, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterzirkel

Vic, that is exactly my issue. I am withering away into nothing with all this crossfit. Freshman year in highschool I would have been psyched but now I want to gain at least 10 #''s. I have a lot of reading to do and a lot of "immersion" because I have seriously ignored it. I can't ignore it any longer. I hate feeling weak and "spindly." Hopefully you will motivate when you see me deadlifting like 10x my body weight in approx 4 weeks.

Gallon of milk a day.

February 16, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterNils

Or, if you're like me and don't totally love milk, just make lots of hot chocolate! Gets the milk in with minimal sugar if you make it yourself (lots of cocoa, not much to sweeten it)...of course I have the opposite problem, so maybe we should just trade diets for a month:)

February 16, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSarah

Yeah, the milk thing is a good idea. I'm ON it. This diet is ON!

Did you all watch the recent video of "log Grace" ? That was my gym for the cert and those were my instructors. So cool. Todd, the guy lifting the "log" is just about the funniest person I have met in a long time. Such an amazing speaker.
