I love Crossfit Bishop. I am the kind of girl that isn't content with 30 minutes of "cardio" on a bike, or a step aerobics class. I like the full body burn, the opportunity to compete, and most of all the surprise that comes with doing something you didn't think you could do. Crossfit is the master at all of this. Crossfit breaks your body down so it can build back up into a better stronger one. It challenges your mind when you do three more reps than you thought possible. And it teaches your heart all you are capable of. Colin is a great instructor. I’ve never had a personal trainer but it is awesome having someone watching your form so closely, it makes you feel safe knowing that someone is looking out for you during challenging exercises so that you can push yourself a little further. Crossfit Bishop has got Colins intensity and attention to detail, Mollys inspiring fitness and kind spirit, a group of incredibly fun and fit people who are as psyched as you and an adorable baby too. Its certainly one of my favorite places to be in Bishop!!

Crossfit Works!  As a young buck, flush with time to get out in the mountains, I felt strongly that the best training for climbing and backcountry skiing was... climbing and backcountry skiing.  Now I'm by no means the busiest guy, nor do I have the most sedentary job, but I've felt the pinch of time in recent months.  I've spent many days over these busy months with Colin at Crossfit Bishop.   Colin energizes the classes, exudes knowledge and confidence, and successfully walks the fine line between motivation and all out pushing.  I just had my first opportunity in months to test my new Crossfitted bod'.  I can say that the total body training and the fresh, varied workouts make a huge difference!  The strength and endurance gains from Crossfit really shined on a recent one-day, monstrous exploratory ski tour in the High Sierra. I look forward to continuing to train and continuing to express strength gains.

I really appreciate all the dedication, knowledge, and energy you and Molly are so generous in giving. Your trained, focused attention and interest in supporting not only my fitness goals, but maximizing the quality of my performance, keeps me engaged and committed. It is inspiring to be around and has been a great catalyst fueling a new level in my health and fitness. It has always been a priority for me, but sometimes the conditions just have to be right to step up the quality and intensity. I suppose much like a CF workout...So, really, thanks. You guys are providing something very worthy to the Bishop community.

CrossFit is a different kind of fitness program that requires much more than gripping a bar and hammering out concentration curls. The complexity and variety of the movements, coupled with the intensity makes for a compelling system of improving one's physical and mental fitness. This is not accomplished without expert, careful, selfless coaching which Colin Broadwater provides.

Starting day two of the cert with steel cut oatmeal, grapefruit, coffee, and bacon. I love being home (my mom is taking very good care of us).

I have awesome instructors.... many of which I have watched in videos on the journal. Lisa Ray, Josh Everett, Todd (?) he did the recent video of working out of his garage in Montana, Chris (?), Curtis Bowler, and Nadia. Curtis Bowler is awesome. Rainier crossfit is his gym. If you have never watched any of his videos, check it out. He is the king of odd object lifting/strongman comp stuff. He has huge cement balls, crazy looking barbells, insanely heavy objects for farmers walks.... so cool. He put the trainers through a workout at lunch yesterday. Lisa Ray was lifting a completely round (sweaty and slippery) like 125# cement ball (this is giving me good ideas). Did "Fran" at the end of the day and can't believe how nervous I was. Decided to do it Rx even though I was a bit worn down but set a new PR by about a minute and 1/2. 9:56. They had a cut off time of 10 min so I had like 3 coaches screaming in my ear to "GO, GO,GO" during the last thrusters and pullups. Then I realized that I have never been to a crossfit gym outside of our garage. I was completely out of my element!!!!! CONSTANTLY VARIED. The pull up bar and the barbell felt strange and I didn't have the security of my husband right next to me. Amazing how the energy of a bunch of strangers can kick you into gear. There are some strong women here. Awesome to see all these girls young and old CRANKING out thrusters and pullups. Some women were doing it in under 5 min. What the @#$%!!! Also cool how after a workout the endorphins kick in and people are so chatty and happy where in the beginning of the day people were just timid and quiet. Love it. Ok, gotta go get my ass kicked again. Oh yeah, I also got called into the middle of my groups circle for some critique on my air squat... thought I had it down but, NO! I got work to do. Hope all is well in the garage. We miss everyone and love reading all the comments!!!! PABLO~ I got you a t-shirt. Size L instead of S.

Nice Molly! Strong work. Such an empowering environment to be in; expanding the perception of what is possible. Lisa and Nadia were at my cert, too. Both did a stellar job. I got a lot out of Lisa's teaching. Can't wait to hear all about your experience when you get back. Enjoy day two! Thanks for thinking of the t-shirt. We'll switch when you get back.

Great to hear about how much fun it is and how much you're learning, Molly! Don't worry, Paul is pushing us all here...we had fun workouts the last two mornings with creative warmups too. I tried out the Midwestern Sectionals "Air Force" workout: start each minute with 4 burpees, then with the rest of your time (hah!) do 20 each at 65# thrusters/ SDHP/ push jerk/ overhead squat/ front squat. It was brutal, and if I had been at the sectionals, I would have barely made it under the 20 min cutoff. And the top women did it under 9 minutes!
