Testimonials

I love Crossfit Bishop. I am the kind of girl that isn't content with 30 minutes of "cardio" on a bike, or a step aerobics class. I like the full body burn, the opportunity to compete, and most of all the surprise that comes with doing something you didn't think you could do. Crossfit is the master at all of this. Crossfit breaks your body down so it can build back up into a better stronger one. It challenges your mind when you do three more reps than you thought possible. And it teaches your heart all you are capable of. Colin is a great instructor. I’ve never had a personal trainer but it is awesome having someone watching your form so closely, it makes you feel safe knowing that someone is looking out for you during challenging exercises so that you can push yourself a little further. Crossfit Bishop has got Colins intensity and attention to detail, Mollys inspiring fitness and kind spirit, a group of incredibly fun and fit people who are as psyched as you and an adorable baby too. Its certainly one of my favorite places to be in Bishop!!

Crossfit Works!  As a young buck, flush with time to get out in the mountains, I felt strongly that the best training for climbing and backcountry skiing was... climbing and backcountry skiing.  Now I'm by no means the busiest guy, nor do I have the most sedentary job, but I've felt the pinch of time in recent months.  I've spent many days over these busy months with Colin at Crossfit Bishop.   Colin energizes the classes, exudes knowledge and confidence, and successfully walks the fine line between motivation and all out pushing.  I just had my first opportunity in months to test my new Crossfitted bod'.  I can say that the total body training and the fresh, varied workouts make a huge difference!  The strength and endurance gains from Crossfit really shined on a recent one-day, monstrous exploratory ski tour in the High Sierra. I look forward to continuing to train and continuing to express strength gains.

I really appreciate all the dedication, knowledge, and energy you and Molly are so generous in giving. Your trained, focused attention and interest in supporting not only my fitness goals, but maximizing the quality of my performance, keeps me engaged and committed. It is inspiring to be around and has been a great catalyst fueling a new level in my health and fitness. It has always been a priority for me, but sometimes the conditions just have to be right to step up the quality and intensity. I suppose much like a CF workout...So, really, thanks. You guys are providing something very worthy to the Bishop community.

CrossFit is a different kind of fitness program that requires much more than gripping a bar and hammering out concentration curls. The complexity and variety of the movements, coupled with the intensity makes for a compelling system of improving one's physical and mental fitness. This is not accomplished without expert, careful, selfless coaching which Colin Broadwater provides.

Colin Broadwater

Colin's life has revolved around athletics from before the age of five.  He grew up playing the usual ball sports, but eventually moved more toward mountain pursuits.  His interest in climbing, skiing, and distance running drew him to the High Sierra where he spent nearly a decade exploring his physical potential on the rock, snow, and trails.  In his late twenties, he found himself transplanted from Bishop to rainy Seattle, Washington.  While drinking lots of coffee, studying the human body and it's movement, and getting married to his wife, Molly, he fell into training at the first CrossFit affiliate to open in the world, CrossFit Seattle. After years of being addicted to the mountain and outdoor fitness scene, Colin never envisioned himself spending hours a day in the gym cranking out heavy deadlifts or perfecting clean and jerk technique! But once instructed on how to perform these movements properly, his friends and family could hardly get his hands unwrapped from a barbell. Ever since, he has dedicated his life to teaching CrossFit's functional movements to anyone who has the patience and persistence to learn them.

Returning to Bishop in July of 2009, he found no suitable training facility or CrossFit trainers within 200 square miles of town...  Since the property he and Molly had recently moved into was on commercial property, CrossFit Bishop soon opened in their 400 square foot garage, after receiving a Conditional Use Permit through the Planning Commission and City Council of the Town of Bishop.  Since then, the gym has evolved from a dirty garage, with a cracked concrete floor, and minimal equipment, into a 3,000+ square foot world class facility able to handle a class of 20+ participants with five currently active coaches.

Now, at age 38, Colin and Molly are homeowners in Bishop and continue to spread the knowledge of constanly varied functional movements at CrossFit Bishop. He is Level I certified and has attended CrossFit's Endurance and Olympic Lifting certifications along with the CrossFit Coaches Prep Course. And last but certainly not least, Colin is the proud father of two beautiful children, Naya and Sean!!!

Kelsea Galvin

Born and raised in the beautiful Eastern Sierras. I have been a competitive athlete my whole life, playing both volleyball and softball. I have a love of sports and all that they encompass. The first time I walked into Crossfit Bishop I was scared and clammy. Although I thought I was in shape the workout challenged me in a way I hadn’t experienced before. In that moment I realized I found the perfect outlet for my competitive spirit and love for fitness. I have been hooked ever since. Within a year, I became fitter, stronger, faster, and more confident in myself as an athlete than I ever felt before. I am blessed to be able to coach, work for such an amazing gym, and honored to work for a great community.

Krista Cooper

Krista comes from a very physically active family with athletic talent. She was born and raised in the beautiful Eastern Sierra. She started skiing at the age of three and moved on to snowboarding. However, her passion was in dance, in both Ballet and Jazz, for twelve years, until moving on to college. Krista earned her college degree in Community and School Health Education from Cal State, Long Beach and moved back to Bishop to start a family and career. However, college, married life and having children got the best of her and she found herself struggling with exercise, good nutrition and being fit. Until one day, she came to a point in her life where she wanted a change for the better and found CrossFit Bishop, through the excitement and encouragement of her sister, Brenda. Once Krista started CrossFit Bishop she never looked back. Through the talented coaching from Colin and Pablo, she found and developed some serious determination, strength, technique and passion for CrossFit. After about a year and a half she made the decision to become a coach so that she can teach and encourage others to make a positive change in their lives by finding their own strength and physical potential.

Krista continues to find balance in her life, while recently being a Level I certified coach, a very active member of CFB, being a social worker supervisor, a mother of two awesome children and a wife. She hopes to inspire others and continue to see the positive changes that CrossFit Bishop brings to this community!

I was born and raised in Bishop.  I grew up playing whatever sport I could.  Baseball, soccer, and hockey, however, were the sports that I spent most of my time playing.  Even though I was active when younger, something changed and by my freshman year I was a heavy kid weighing in at 220 pounds.  That summer I got a gym membership for the time and a new chapter in my life started.  Over the course of the next two years I had lost 50 pounds and working out had become my new passion.  After graduating high school I moved to San Diego and eventually became an ISSA certified personal trainer at LA Fitness.  I also met my wife, Crystal, in San Diego and we eventually made our way back to Bishop to start a family.  Fast forward to 2012 and I was growing tired of my normal gym routine and was looking for something more challenging.  I ventured into CrossFit Bishop and was hooked.  After two years of training, I finally decided to start coaching the movements I had come to love.  During 2014 near the beginning of my apprenticeship, Crystal and I were blessed with our little boy Cash.
